Dirs. Julia Halperin, Jason Cortlund. 2017, 100 mins. Digital projection. With Allison Tolman, Sophie Reid, JoBeth Williams. The directors of the critically hailed indie Now Forager are back with a slow-burn Texas thriller about a mysterious woman who hitchhikes to Austin to meet her half-sister by way of their late country musician father. While the family music legacy brought this stranger to town, she will not leave without taking revenge against the people who stole her father away years ago. The film features stand-out performances from both lead actresses, and makes excellent use of the Austin music scene with live performances of traditional and original songs.
Australian singer-songwriter Desmond White will perform a sneak preview of his upcoming album, Glace, before the films on Sun., July 16 at 1:30pm in the George S. Kaufman Courtyard.
