Location: Redstone Theater
Dir. Kenneth Lonergan. 2011, 186 mins. Digital projection. With Anna Paquin, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon. Anna Paquin is Lisa Cohen, the teenager at the center of this panoramic Upper West Side story, who witnesses (and maybe causes) the death of a pedestrian hit by a bus. The messy aftermath of the accident, and its moral and emotional implications, are at the heart of this great movie, which draws its title from Gerard Manley Hopkins’s poem “Spring and Fall: To a Young Child.” The film will be shown in Lonergan’s preferred director’s cut.
