Motion picture testing equipment, Art Reeves Sensitester Model AAF42, 1939

This Art Reeves Sensitester was used to examine the degree of contrast in the camera negative. Using the measured densities, adjustments could be made to the film during printing to create motion pictures with uniform light intensities, eliminating the problem of varying degrees of contrast from scene to scene.
