Part of the series Changing the Picture, sponsored by Time Warner Inc.

George Clinton is one of the foremost innovators of funk music and the mastermind behind the bands Parliament and Funkadelic a.k.a. the P-Funk All Stars. On the occasion of his eagerly awaited memoir entitled Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard on You?: A Memoir (2014, Atria Books), Clinton will be present for a very special evening including a discussion, a screening of the groundbreaking cult-favorite TV special Cosmic Slop, which was hosted by Clinton, and a book signing.

The psychedelic tour de force, three-part Cosmic Slop (Dirs. Reginald Hudlin, Warrington Hudlin, Kevin Rodney Sullivan. 1994, 83 mins. Digital projection) initially generated controversy when it aired on HBO, for its provocative depictions of class and racial tensions. Cosmic Slop was often compared to The Twilight Zone. This 20th-anniversary screening will be followed by a conversation with George Clinton, moderated by James Mtume, the Grammy-winning recording artist, former Miles Davis band member, and current New York talk radio show host. The discussion will be followed by a book signing with Clinton.

Tickets: $20 ($12 members at the Film Lover, Dual, and Family levels / free for Silver Screen and above).  Order tickets online
