Exploring Space Dreams & Afrofuturism with Filmmaker Nuotama Bodomo

Join us for a shared, free screening and live online discussion of the award-winning short film Afronauts (2014) with filmmaker Nuotama Bodomo, hosted by MoMI media programmer and instructor Tiffany Joy Butler and Teen Council representatives. Before the Q&A session we will watch the 14-minute film together with Science on Screen curator Sonia Shechet Epstein, who is the Executive Editor of Sloan Science & Film, the Museum’s website devoted to the intersection of science and film, where visitors can find original articles and more than 70 Sloan Foundation award-winning short films are available to stream for free.

MoMI’s Education Department serves 70,000 students per year with interactive learning experiences dedicated to film, media, television, internet broadcasting, and video games. For free media-making tutorials and student digital exhibitions, subscribe to our YouTube channel @ Moving Image Studio. Each week we add new mini-lessons, reviews, and other resources for media-makers of all ages. Learn how to make your own claymation animated video using household objects with Tiffany Joy Butler in a mini-lesson that features a re-enactment of Afronauts: “Claymation in Space.”
